Indianapolis Supercross’ January 30 – February 6, 2021
Rounds 4, 5 and 6 of the 2021 Monster Energy Supercross series took up residency at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN. The weather outside was cold and snowy, but inside the stadium racing continued to heat up.
Indy #1 (round 4): Kevin came into the Indy SX rounds determined to build on his Houston Successes and he did just that. In his heat race he fought to the finish for a 5th overall. The Main Event did not go as planned and some crashes had him settle in for a 15th place finish.
Indy #2 (round 5): Even tough the tracks change during the stadium residency; it did not slow Moranz down. He lined up for Heat #1 and was able to hold a top position even with multiple crashes happening around him. He avoided hitting the dirt and finished 3rd. Launching off the gate for the Main Event Moranz was mid-pack and battled hard for the 15 minutes plus 2 laps to secure a 10th place finish.
Indy #3 (round 6): Another track change, this time featuring the rare right hand first turn; this proved to do well for Kevin. He qualified 16th (a best in Indy) and went on to place 4th in his Heat. The Main Event at round 6 was more challenging with some crashes and having to wrestle through the pack, ultimately finishing 14th.
Kevin currently sits in 13th place in the 250SX East Coast Series with 54 total points. The upcoming round in Orlando, FL will be Kevin’s chance to gain crucial series points. East Coast series races will return on April 24 in Salt Lake City, UT.
