To say the 2021 Supercross Schedule has been a bit chaotic would be an understatement. Here we are another week down, another new residency and this time a new venue; The Atlanta Motor Speedway. This years’ Atlanta residency hosted the 250SX West Coast class; about as far from the West Coast as you can get.
The TPJ Racing team started out the West Coast rounds with four 250SX riders, in ATL we were down to 2.
Mason Wharton was just shy (by 3 positions) from making the night show in two of the three Atlanta rounds. He rode hard all year and we know that he gave 100% each time he lined up. We look forward to seeing him line-up for our team in the Outdoors season.
Blaine Silveira has been pushing himself harder each race day in an attempt to get a coveted Main Event start. At Atlanta #1 and #3, he DNF’d (did not finish) the LCQ’s. Atlanta #2, was his best finish this season with an 11th place in that nights LCQ. Silveira’s silly SX season is over, but he looks forward to racing more this year and hopes to come back next year and try his luck again.
Kevin Moranz has been racing in the 450SX class while the 250SX East coast series is on a break to gain additional race day experience. Regrettably, he crashed during open practice at Atlanta 2 and had to be taken by helicopter to a local hospital. In the end, his injuries were not as bad as initially thought, but they will sideline him for the rest of the season. Moranz will do his best to heal up quickly so he can make the 2021 Lucas Oil Outdoors season in a few weeks.
