Returning to the schedule this year is the historic High Point Raceway in Mount Morris, PA. Rain threatened race day, but the skies held off long enough for 4 fantastic Motos.

Derek Kelley #73 rode strong during practice qualifying 24th. The Motos proved challenging for him, crashing on the start and having to work his way through the stacked pack of talented athletes all vying for the top spot. In Moto 2, Kelley was sitting around 37th place but used the final few laps to push his way forward securing a 33rd place finish and a 30th overall for the day. Derek’s comment from the weekend “It definitely wasn’t the weekend I wanted to have a Highpoint. I know where I should be and this definitely wasn’t that. I know what I need to change moving forward and I’m hungry for redemption. Huge thank you to everyone that brings it together…”.

Matt Hubert #647 qualified mid-pack for race day but couldn’t find the rhythm to put together two solid motos. Matt took to Instagram following the race with this statement: “Wow High Point did not go well for me. Felt uncomfortable all day and never got into a rhythm with the track. Gonna use this weekend off to really go back to the drawing board and get prepared for Red Bud. Sorry to all my sponsors this season, pretty crappy start but it isn’t over…”. Hubert hasn’t given up yet, we are going to see a whole new rider come Red Bud.
Need inspiration? Look no further then these two TPJ Racing team riders. Their passion and drive is commendable. Look for BIG things from both of them the remainder of this season and beyond. Breaks in the racing provide riders/teams the opportunity to rest, recover and reenergize. As frustrating as the season seems to be so far for Kelley and Hubert, they know it’s not over yet; both riders are looking forward to a reset and top 20 finishes at Red Bud. See you all there.
