Lucas Oil Pro Motocross #5 – TPJ Racing

Rain poured down on the Moto 338 track in Southwick, MA, forming ruts as deep as a grown man on the track and created a great deal of extra work for the track crew.  Luckily, this type of weather is nothing new for the Soutwick crew and they had the track race ready come Saturday qualifiers.

Derek Kelley #73 who injured himself at Red Bud decided to sit out the Southwick race to heal up.  Kelley will rejoin the series for round 6 at Spring Creek in Millville, MN.

Matt Hubert #647 said Southwick was a “step in the right direction…” for him. A solid qualifying position of 27th set him up with a decent gate pick for Moto 1.  The still muddy track created some difficulties for Hubert early on in each Moto but he fought hard and got stronger as the day went on (ending with a 30th place finish in Moto 2, compared to a 34th in Moto 1).  He’s excited to finally see some progress this season and looks forward to capitalizing on it in Millville.
