Lucas Oil Pro Motocross #9 – TPJ Racing

Budds Creek, Mechanicsville, MD

Budds Creek Motocross Park in Mechanicsville, MD hosted round 9 of the 2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.  The potential of rain threatened to disrupt racing, luckily (for some) the skies held off and Budds Creek hosted a beautiful day of racing.

Derek Kelley #73 – sat out this round of racing due to a concussion at Unadilla.  He will continue to heal up and hopes to be back for Ironman this coming weekend.

Matt Hubert #647 – was once again the lone soldier holding down the TPJ Racing team.  He squeaked through qualifying in 33rd place and guaranteed himself a spot in the main Moto’s of the day.  Moto 1 did not go as planned; he only rode 6 of the 19 total laps.  Moto 2 was a much stronger showing for Hubert despite a bad start.  He was able to recover a 30th overall finish and complete 16 of 18 total laps.  He was passed by the leaders of the race on lap 8 but held his own and battled the pack to the end.  Progress, progress, progress…Hubert is gaining confidence and speed each week. You don’t want to miss him in the final 3 rounds.
