Kevin Moranz Is Living The Privateer Dream At Hangtown

From Swapmoto Live on YouTube

Earlier this year, Kevin Moranz told us that his current goal was to get a fill-in ride with the Rocky Mountain ATV-MC/WPS/KTM team. Excellent starts during the 2021 Monster Energy Supercross Series put the Kansas privateer in the middle of the action and helped him develop a reputation as a capable rider in both the 250 and 450 Classes. A hard crash at the Atlanta Supercross put him on the sidelines with shoulder injuries and a concussion for much of the summer, and he recovered in time to line up for the closing rounds of the 2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.

Everything lined up for Moranz ahead of Hangtown after Joey Savatgy withdrew from the final round due to ongoing issues with his health and energy. Moranz and the team got in touch on Thursday night, and after some conversation, agreed to let him ride the factory-level 450 SX-F for the weekend. This is only a one-race deal for Moranz, but he’s eager to make the most of the opportunity and see what it’s like racing at the next level.
