Chesterfield, South Carolina—Brazilian born Enzo Lopes may not be a household name in the United Sates …. Yet! Do not underestimate the level of talent he brings to the team in 2022. Lopes had a very successful amateur career before he turned pro in 2018. From there he bounced around to a few teams and still managed to finish a very respectable 5th overall on a ClubMX Yamaha in the 2020 Monster Energy AMA Supercross 250 East division amassing several top 10 finishes along the way.
You have previously seen Lopes when he participated in the Red Bull Straight Rhythm for a few years and also at the Motocross de Nations on Team Brazil. His talent lies just under the radar, waiting to break out and the 2022 season will be just the opportunity he has been looking for.
“Like many other great riders, I had trained at ClubMX in the past. I saw it as a stepping stone to bigger and better things, but looking back I was wrong. The facility, the bikes, the people and everything are perfect to be successful in the top ranks of the sport. I was training there just before they got really successful and looking back, I regret leaving” said Lopes. “But that is really the great thing about Brandon [Haas] and his program. He encourages everyone to pursue their dreams and he supports the riders whether they are on his team or not.”
ClubMX will compete in both the East and West coast Supercross series with Lopes piloting a very fast Yamaha YZ250F. He will also compete in the entire Lucas Oil Pro Motocross outdoor series – all of this made possible by the support of FXR Racing, IAMACOMEBACK and Yamaha.
“Enzo Lopes is one of the best riders in the sport and just waiting to show it. It was like we were five rounds in to the NFL draft hoping he would still be available when it was our turn to pick … and he was. We will welcome him back and start the process when our Supercross boot camp opens later this month” said owner Brandon Haas. “Enzo is a good kid and deserves a real shot at showing what he can do and we plan to give him that opportunity.”
