Coming into round 1 you always hope the off-season preparation is enough to keep your results where they are expected to be. This always adds extra nerves to all parties coming into the first event.
Both our riders were near the front of the pack all practice and qualifying. Alex and Cade were extremely close in lap times swapping who was on top each session. Both riders qualified into the night show with main event-worthy lap times.
During their heat race, both riders got a great start and were running inside the top 9 and in qualifying positions. They both rode great during the heat but a small bobble by Alex moved him out of a qualifying spot on the last lap. Cade was in 8th (top 9 go directly to main) and Marvin Musquin block passed him causing him to fall. This was just a racing incident but both of our riders had to go to the LCQ.
The LCQ start put both riders mid-pack for the very short and intense race. Both riders quickly moved through the field and Cade moved into a transfer spot with Alex right behind him just outside the top 4. Alex crashed in a challenging area of the track ending his main event chances.
Cade rode to a hard-fought 19th in the main event. Overall this was an amazing round 1 for our team and if this is how the start goes it surely will be a great year.
Media Coverage
Our team has been selected for the Learn to Ride segment for the entire season. This will broadcast our team teaching the local news anchor how to ride a dirt bike on live local television. This 4-minute broadcast airs locally 6 times on Friday and Saturday of each race weekend in that city. This gives our team and all our sponsors 24 min of local television time in a new city each weekend nationwide, bringing attention to everyone not just fans of our industry.
NBC Live recorded a special feature on our team that will be broadcasted during one of the races on the NBC Sports channel.
Our industry media coverage was at an all-time high this weekend as such notables like Kris Keefer, Pulp MX, Swap Moto, Vital MX, all were in our pits almost all weekend doing interviews, etc.
