With its scenic, tree-lined setting, Washougal MX Park is one of the most picturesque tracks in American motocross. However, its beauty is complemented by one of the sport’s most challenging and demanding layouts that weaves in and out of the shadows. The MotoSport.com Washougal National was a tough test for all riders and saw some impressive underdog performances across both classes. One of the most impressive came from AEO Powersports KTM’s Josh Varize in the 250 Class. A pair of strong starts proved to pay big dividends for the California native as he parlayed his position in the front half of the field into a pair of 10th-place moto finishes, which was enough to give him a season-best 10th-place finish in the overall standings. It was a huge confidence booster for a rider who has been knocking on the door of the top 10 all season long and was the kind of effort that warranted FMF Privateer Power Award honors.
