2023 SUPERCROSS – SAN DIEGO – TPJ RACE REPORT

From TPJ Racing

The new Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, California hosted round 2 of the 2023 Monster Energy Supercross Season.  This round was originally slated to be #3 of the season, but a historical decision made by FELD Entertainment to postpone Oakland due to massive storms shook up the schedule.

Teams and riders alike were relieved that the rains in southern California subsided before race day; allowing Dirt Wurx to build an incredible track that provided great racing.  The TPJ Racing team hosted 3 riders this week, continue reading to see how they did.

Logan Boye #119 – has chosen to race some 450SX rounds to help with his training for the upcoming 250SX East Coast season.  Logan rode well in practice and enjoyed getting some seat time.  Logan put down a fastest lap of 56.900, qualifying 45th overall.  Unfortunately, he didn’t make the night show but he was thankful for the experience.

Austin Cozadd #512 – has had a slow start to his season due to some crashes during his weekly practices.  He qualified 48th with a 57.371 fastest lap time.  He knows what he needs to focus on in order to compete at this level, and he is determined to make his first main event in the coming rounds.  See the next page for his thoughts on the season so far.

Hunter Cross #702 – is 2 for 2 in his rookie season.  He qualified 35th overall with a 54.956 fastest lap time; securing a coveted spot in the night show.  Hunter had a back of the pack start in his heat race but was able to battle it out from last place to finish 14th.  Moving into the LCQ, he made some adjustment and got a great start, but some challenges and a crash towards the end of the race ended his night in 19th.
