TPJ Racing – Pro Motocross – Round 2

SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA | JUNE 3, 2023 | HANGTOWN CLASSIC

The Hangtown Motocross Classic has been a staple in the Pro Motocross series for many decades; and remains one of the oldest facilities on the tour.  Tens of thousands of fans make their way from all over the world to central California to witness the top 40 riders in each class compete at this historic race track.

Brian JR Saunier had an unfortunate crash at round 1 that has left him sidelined for a few weeks.  He’s bummed to not be racing, but he’s focused on his recovery so he can join us later this season.  Hunter Cross qualified 37th fastest in the 250MX class, forcing him into the consolation race where he finished 6th.  He didn’t get to the main Moto’s of the day but he had a lot of fun and is looking forward to earning some series points at the next round.

Trevor Schmidt was originally slotted to race in the 250MX class but made the decision to jump up to the 450mx class; he qualified 46th overall and finished 11th in the consolation race.  He’s feeling very comfortable on the bike but knows he still has work to do during the week to get him to the next level.

Romain Pape has been on fire this season; his speed and endurance are exactly where they need to be.  He went 14/13 for a 10th overall for the day.  He currently sits 16th in the series championship with 23 points.

In their words:

Romain Pape #444“What a race! I didn’t know even in my wildest dreams it would have happened this way! To get a top 10 is just unbelievable.  Definitely the best round of my life where I gave the best of myself. Thanks again to everyone involved in me living this dream! We know now that it is possible so we won’t give up.”

Trevor Schmidt #746: “Got to keep plugging away to get to where we need to be.”

Hunter Cross #702: “So much fun riding the 125 at Hangtown!…The bike ripped, it just wasn’t in the cards for me.  Some of my best riding and made great improvements on myself definitely looking forward to racing the 250 next weekend…I rode my heart out  and that’s something I can be proud of, and the love from everyone watching was worth it.”
