LAKEWOOD, COLORADO | JUNE 10, 2023 | THUNDER VALLEY
Elevation is synonymous with Thunder Valley; sitting at 5,518 feet above sea level this track will quite literally take your breath away. Nestled into the beautiful hillside right off a main highway is this glorious but challenging race track.
Pro Motocross is a physically demanding series, and Thunder Valley might be one of the toughest tracks to conquer. Not only does the elevation play a leading role in this track’s intensity, but with each passing lap the track seems to morph into something of one’s nightmares.
Deep ruts begin to take shape, shadows creep in as the sun begins to fall behind the mountain and the laps seem to be endless. Three of the four TPJ riders qualified for the main Moto’s of the day; a great feat considering 76 450MX riders and 58 250MX riders made the attempt. As team owner Ted Parks says, “You were one of the top 40 fastest riders in the world today”.
In their words:
Romain Pape #444: “Another great day with points on the clock. The track is really complicated with ruts and hole as far as the eye can see. I’m making progress round by round, pure happiness! Now room for the unknown with the first easter race next weekend at High Point. Already looking forward to it. A big thanks to everyone for the support, it boosts me!”
Trevor Schmidt #746: “Thunder Valley was good to me! P29 in qualifying then went 22-30 in the motos. Finally riding like myself. Thanks everyone for the support!”
Brian “JR” Saunier #971: “Decided I’ll be back racing High Point this weekend. Back isn’t 100% healed yet but it’s a hometown National so why not?”
Hunter Cross #702: “Made it to Thunder Valley, and the bike turned out all time! Good times, rode great all day. P22 in moto 1, P35 in moto 2. Was running 16th for the first half till I had a bike failure. It’s a bummer, but first race back in a while more to come. Huge thank you to everyone who made this race weekend possible. High Point next weekend!”
