From TPJ Racing
Round 10 of the 2023 Pro Motocross Championship was hosted by Budds Creek in Mechanicsville, MD. This track sits just 30 minutes outside of Washington D.C. near historic Chesapeake Bay. Tucked away in a valley right off the road, Budds Creek is a stunning facility known for it’s rolling hills and tacky dirt. On race day the track will continue to morph with each lap and demand 100% from every rider attempting to concur it.
As the season is nearing its end, the TPJ Racing team riders are digging deep for every last ounce of strength and determination to end the season on a high note.
In the 450MX class Romain Pape is grinding each weekend with the hopes of breaking into the top 15 in the Championship. Budds Creek was a little bit of a struggle for him due to mid-pack starts and a crash in Moto 2; he was able to salvage 3 points and ended the day in 19th overall.
In the 250MX Class Hunter Cross grabbed the final qualifying spot of the day eliminating his need to compete in the Consolation Race and giving him some time to rest before the days Motos. The brutal track proved to be a challenge, but Hunter pushed through and fought hard in each moto through multiple battles to end the day in 35th overall.
In their words:
Romain Pape: “Two starts in the cabbage didn’t allow me to get a better result this weekend. Gave my max in both motos to come back up with a good ride, so I’m happy. I was in 16th in the second round at 3 laps from the end before my speed went out in the call of the big triple up. I dropped my bike in the air and miraculously landed on my legs to recovery with no major injuries. 3 small points score this weekend, but it’s still a keeper! There’s only one left!”
