TPJ Racing – Pro Motocross – Round 9

From TPJ Racing

While there are many remarkable Motocross Tracks on the circuit, none can compete with the rich history of Unadilla. This long European style track has the unique history of being one of the first tracks of its kind in the USA in the 1960’s.  To this day, Unadilla continues to hold the title of longest continuously ran AMA Pro Motocross track in the US.

The 450MX Champion may have been crowned, but there are still 65 other riders who know they only have 2 rounds left to seal their own fates. Romain Pape has been fighting hard all season long, learning each new track on race day and overcoming many battles along the way; he currently sits in 17th place in the Championship.  He is only 13 points away from hitting the top 15, and he’s committed to giving 100% these last two weekends to make it happen.  Trevor Schmidt suffered a season ending injury at Unadilla, so he will end his season with 4 Championship points: he’s currently in 48th overall.  Trevor had a great run this season, gaining speed and confidence each week; while the end results are not what he wanted, he’s happy with his performance and for the experience.

In the 250MX class, things continue to heat up each week as the best of the best attempt to clinch the championship.  Hunter Cross has qualified for 6 rounds so far this season but has been unable to close the gap for a top 20 finish.  His goal in these final rounds is to is to beat his current season best finish of 22nd and hopefully gain some points.  Brian “JR” Saunier, suffered an injury early in the season and the effects have plagued him since.  His best finish so far this season is 14th in the Consolation race. Logan Boye has also experienced a challenging season so far; his best finish is an 8th place in the Consolation race.  Both JR and Logan hope to overcome adversity and make it into the main motos in these final two rounds.

In their words:

Romain Pape: “Another great day at Unadilla! Site was outstanding and track was XXL! Bit shy in the morning but 2 great rounds in the afternoon.  Shame I got caught in a collective crash early in the first round, got hit by multiple riders and cut my breath for a long time and got left behind…then raced in the good wagon with good times all around.  Nice second round where I didn’t give up anything to go get some good points in the championship.”

Trevor Schmidt: “Dilla was sick till it wasn’t.  Sadly, I ended up breaking my leg.  Just caught it in a rut and twisted it around.  Thank you all for the love, you guys were awesome.  Now I’m going to take some time to heal up.”

Hunter Cross: “Undailla was a rad national, felt good on the track all day and made good improvements.  P22 in Moto 2.  Thanks to everyone that came by the pits and all the love during the motos! See you guys at Budds Creek.”
