Round 7 of the 2025 AMA Monster Energy Supercross season took place in the Lone Star State, Arlington, TX, marking the second Triple Crown event of the year and recognized USA military and service members with Military Appreciate. This weekend also saw the return of Avery Long after recovering from the crash he endured at San Diego.
The day started with a positive, with Lux Turner and Avery Long earning direct transfers into the main event from qualifying, with Lux qualifying 16th and Avery securing the 17th spot.
Moto 1:
Lux had a solid start, launching off the gate and quickly finding himself in 4th place. He held his position for the first half of the race but, after a couple of small mistakes, was overtaken and finished the moto in 8th place. For Avery, the first moto was a challenge. Despite not getting the best start, he fought his way up to 15th but unfortunately crashed in the whoops section. He remounted quickly but ended the moto in 22nd, a disappointing result for his first race back after the injury.
Moto 2:
Lux bounced back in moto 2, grabbing a great start and settling into 4th place, which he held for a good portion of the race. As the laps ticked down, he finished strong in 7th. Avery, on the other hand, was not as fortunate with his start. After fighting through the pack, he found himself in 12th but was involved in a collision with another rider, causing both riders to crash. Avery remounted and ended the moto in 16th, looking forward to the final race of the night.
Moto 3:
Moto 3 was a defining moment for Lux, as he faced a slightly less favorable start than in the first two motos. However, Lux rode with determination, staying strong and defending his 9th-place position for the entire race. This marked his first-ever top-10 finish, proving his speed and resilience, especially after showing impressive pace earlier in the race, running with the lead pack in 4th for a stretch. For Avery, the final moto of the night started from around 15th place. Avery fought hard, working his way up and overtaking three riders before finishing in 12th. Despite the challenges of returning after injury and the added pressure of the Triple Crown format, Avery’s performance throughout the night was a positive one. His recovery from the crash earlier in the day was impressive, and he continues to show progress each week as he gains confidence and refines his race craft.
Summary:
While both riders faced their share of challenges, Lux and Avery both demonstrated significant improvement and resilience. Avery’s first race back since the injury was a learning experience, with each moto providing valuable lessons for him to build on. Lux, with his first-ever top-10 finish, showed he has the ability, talent, and potential to consistently be within the top 10. Our team, riders, and sponsors really came together to recognize and show respect to our military by going above and beyond to make our gear, bike, and riders look top-notch and the best in the paddock. As the season moves forward, both riders will continue to build on this momentum and push for better results in the coming rounds. Next stop – Indianapolis for the first of three West/East Showdown!
