Round 9 of the 2025 AMA Monster Energy Supercross season took place at the iconic Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. This was an exciting and special round, marking the first of three East/West Showdowns, where riders from both coasts go head-to-head to see which coast reigns supreme.

Adding to the excitement, this race was also dedicated to St. Jude’s/Cancer Awareness, with riders and teams showing their support for the cause. The AEO Powersports KTM Racing Team went all in with custom graphics that featured a Lego-inspired design, a playful tribute to something every kid loves. It was a truly heartwarming day for a great cause!

The track layout at Indianapolis proved to be one of the most challenging of the season. With its ever-evolving dirt, ruts, and technical sections, the riders had their work cut out for them. Avery Long and Lux Turner focused on getting comfortable with the track without pushing their limits too early.

Practice/Qualifying:
The double-stacked race weekend added extra pressure, and for Avery Long, time ran out. A crash in Free Practice set him back, and despite his best efforts, he never quite found his flow. His struggles with the track’s challenging layout resulted in him missing out on a qualifying position by just one spot.

Lux Turner also had a tough time in qualifying. His times weren’t quite reflective of his true potential, and he struggled to find his rhythm on a track that didn’t seem to suit his riding style. Lux was 16th in West qualifying 1, 14th in qualifying 2, and ultimately qualified 20th overall in the East/West combined timed qualifying.

West Heat Race:
With a bad gate pick, Lux’s start was far from ideal, placing him mid-pack. After the first lap, he found himself in 16th. Though he had difficulty finding his rhythm and passing other riders, Lux held his ground, making a single pass for 15th. Unfortunately, this wasn’t enough to move him into a direct transfer spot, and Lux found himself heading to the LCQ.

LCQ:
Lux turned things around in the LCQ with an excellent jump off the gate, securing a strong second-place position. He held his speed and control throughout the race, eventually finishing in the #2 transfer spot, earning his place in the main event.

Main Event:
At the start of the 18-lap main event, Lux found himself on the ground after the gate drop. Without missing a beat, he quickly remounted and set to work, determined to fight for each position on a track that wasn’t quite suited to his style. Lux dug deep, focusing on consistent lap times, and by the midpoint of the race, he had made up ground, moving up to 16th position by the end of the race.

A huge thank you goes out to our incredible sponsors, especially for their continued support during these themed races. Special shout-outs to SKDA, KTM PowerParts, THOR, and Guts for providing top-notch gear and bike setups that made all the difference on race day.
