AEO Powersports KTM Racing announces that Talon Hawkins will be stepping away from professional motocross racing, following an injury sustained during the 2024 Supercross season. While this may be the end of Talon’s chapter as a racer, he will always be a part of the AEO family — both under the rig and in our hearts.
Talon joined the AEO Powersports KTM Racing team in late 2023, just ahead of the 2024 Supercross season. However, his connection to AEO runs much deeper. A promising young amateur, Talon climbed the ranks with dedication and talent, earning attention as he progressed toward the professional stage. AEO Powersports supported him at points throughout his amateur career, making his transition to the team feel like a return home. So when Talon moved from Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing to AEO Powersports KTM, he was already a familiar face — and instantly a part of the AEO family.
From day one, he brought more than just speed to the track — he brought life to the pits. Known for his fun-loving spirit, big smile, and laid-back energy, Talon quickly became the guy who lifted everyone around him. Whether it was lining up at the gate, cracking jokes between motos, or tossing a fishing line after a long weekend, Talon lives and breathes the lifestyle — not just the sport. His love for dirt bikes runs deep, but so does his talent across everything he does, from surfing to fishing and everything in between.
Unfortunately, Talon’s 2024 season was cut short after a crash during the heat race at San Diego Supercross, where he suffered a broken femur. Despite his determination and strong mindset through recovery, he has faced some minor complications during the healing process that have ultimately led to this tough but thoughtful decision to step away from full-time competition.
Talon Hawkins: “This has been one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. I’ve been racing since I was 4 years old, and I’ve poured my heart and soul into this sport. Ever since I was a kid, all I dreamed of was becoming a professional supercross racer—and I accomplished that dream. But after a lot of reflection, I know this is the right decision for me at this time. I still love dirt bikes—and I always will—but my heart just isn’t in racing the way it used to be.
Thank you to everyone who’s supported me throughout this journey—and let me tell you, there are many. Jeremy and the whole AEO team have been an amazing team to race for, and I wish them nothing but the best. The memories, the lessons, the people—I’ll carry them with me forever.”
While this may not be the path Talon expected, he leaves the sport with his head held high and a legacy of joy, positivity, and camaraderie. The AEO Powersports KTM rig won’t be the same without his presence — but wherever he goes next, we know he’ll bring the same fire and spirit that made him a fan favorite and team staple.
Jeremy Scism, AEO Powersports KTM Team Manager: “It’s a big decision for any rider to walk away from the sport they know, love, and have dedicated their whole life to — and that’s not something Talon took lightly. But with the support of his family and our team, we understand and fully respect his choice. Even though it wasn’t an easy decision, we know he’s doing what’s right for himself, his health, and his future. Talon has always been, and always will be, a part of the AEO team and family. We’ll continue to support him long after his racing career. He’s not only an extremely talented rider, but also a great kid who comes from a great family. I’m truly honored that we had the opportunity to be part of his journey.”
From all of us at AEO, thank you, Talon. You’ll always have a spot under our tent.
