Round 4 – 2025 AMA Pro Motocross Championship | High Point

The AEO Powersports KTM Racing Team faced a challenging yet productive weekend at Round 4 of the 2025 AMA Pro Motocross Championship at High Point. Despite difficult starts and conditions, all three riders showed resilience and determination throughout both motos.

Qualifying
Avery and Lux grabbed their fastest lap time in Q.2 after the track shaped up after the rain from the night before. CJ, with never having been to High Point before logged his laps and took his time to learn the track and where he needed to improve. He did end up going to the LCQ, which was probably a benefit for CJ as it gave him an opportunity to have more track time and see the evolution of the track throughout the day and better prepared him for his motos, he ended up 3rd in the LCQ. All three of the AEO KTM riders had their work cut out for them entering into the first moto, due to not having favorable gate picks due to their qualifying times, but if there is one thing these boys know how to do, it is dig deep.

  • Avery Long – 2:10.731
  • Lux Turner – 2:11:246
  • CJ Benard – 2:12:159

Lux Turner
Lux’s day got off to a tough start as he was buried in 35th place after lap 1 of Moto 1. However, the young rider didn’t give up, making significant progress by lap 7, climbing to 26th. Despite losing one position late in the race, Lux finished Moto 1 in 27th.

In Moto 2, Lux took advantage of a better gate pick, improving his start to 28th place on lap 1. With consistent lap times, he fought his way into the top 20 by lap 9 and finished 21st, showcasing his ability to recover and push forward.

Avery Long
Avery once again demonstrated his grit in Moto 1, where he started in 23rd/24th position. By lap 4, he was on the move, advancing through the pack. Avery reached 21st by lap 6, setting his fastest lap of the race, and continued to push, overtaking three more riders to finish 17th in Moto 1.

In Moto 2, despite adverse weather conditions affecting the track, Avery’s solid gate pick placed him mid-pack. On lap 1, he was 26th but quickly moved up five positions by lap 2. By lap 10, he settled into 18th, where he maintained his position to the finish. These two finishes marked Avery’s best of the season, reflecting both consistency and growth.

CJ Benard
Rookie CJ Benard faced a tough break in Moto 1, experiencing a bike malfunction that forced him to retire after lap 7, while working his way up from 36th to 31st. However, CJ stayed focused on the task ahead and, despite a challenging start in Moto 2, he made steady progress. After sitting in 38th on lap 1, he climbed into 30th by lap 6 and kept pushing, ultimately finishing Moto 2 in 27th. His perseverance was evident, and he continues to learn and improve with each race.
