The AEO Powersports KTM squad came out strong and swinging for the opening round of Supercross under the lights at Angel Stadium. Both riders showed early speed and consistency, proving the hard work put in during the offseason on the KTMs is paying off.
Carson Mumford came out firing in the opening timed qualifying session, clocking the 8th-fastest time, with Avery Long not far behind in 11th. They followed it up with another solid session, posting 10th and 11th fastest times. By the final qualifying, they settled into 12th and 13th, a strong showing of comfort and confidence heading into the night show.
Qualifying
Carson Mumford: 12th – 1:08.235
Avery Long: 13th – 1:08.921
Carson Mumford
Carson lined up for Heat Race #1 and left nothing on the track. He launched off the gate with a solid start, coming around for the green flag in 4th place. Mumford held strong throughout the heat, refusing to give up any positions, and even clocked his fastest lap of the heat race with one lap to go, securing a solid transfer.
In the Main Event, Mumford found himself just outside the top 10 early, with work to be done. After coming around lap one in approximately 16th, he immediately went to work. Within the first couple of laps, he pushed forward into the 13th–14th range. By lap three, he clocked his fastest lap of the main event and continued his charge. Around the halfway mark, Carson worked his way into 11th place, where he held strong through the checkered flag.
While an 11th-place finish is a solid result, Mumford left the race a bit frustrated, knowing he has the speed and strength to fight inside the top 10 and was knocking on the door of that goal.
Avery Long
Dividing and conquering, Avery Long lined up for Heat Race #2. He got a mid-pack start but quickly settled in, finding himself 9th on lap one. Avery stayed patient and methodical, picking off riders ahead of him and gaining a position roughly every couple of laps. His charge brought him up to 6th place by the end of the heat, transferring directly to the Main Event.
Heading into the Main Event, Avery was determined to prove he could battle for a top-10 finish. He put himself in a great position early, running as high as 7th place by lap seven. After an intense fight in the opening laps, he was shuffled back to 9th on lap eight. Despite the frustration, Avery stayed focused and refused to give up any more positions.
With a team goal of securing a top-10 finish, Avery did exactly that, holding strong through the remainder of the race. His performance showcased his strength, composure, and determination, leaving the opening round in a great position moving forward.
