ISRT Kawasaki Faces Highs and Lows at Round 5 of Monster Energy Supercross in Glendale
Glendale, AZ — Round 5 of the Monster Energy Supercross Championship at State Farm Stadium delivered an emotional night for the ISRT Kawasaki team in front of record-breaking attendance. The team was proud to showcase local sponsor Brother’s Jerky throughout the evening’s event, adding a strong hometown presence to an already electric atmosphere.
Max Miller began the day on a high note, setting his fastest lap times of the season during qualifying. Unfortunately, disaster struck in the whoop section when Miller suffered a crash that resulted in a broken right arm and right leg. He was transported to a local trauma center, where he remained overnight and underwent successful surgery on Sunday morning. Miller is now recovering at his Southern California home. There is currently no estimated timeline for his return, but the entire ISRT Kawasaki team wishes him a smooth and speedy recovery.
Vince Friese navigated qualifying without issue and lined up for Heat Race 2 ready to contend. Friese launched to a strong start, going bar-to-bar with Factory KTM rider Jorge Prado for the holeshot. He secured a ninth-place finish in the heat race, transferring directly to the Main Event. When the gate dropped for the Main Event, Friese proved the heat race was no fluke by grabbing the holeshot out of turn one. While the race unfolded with challenges, Friese battled hard from start to finish and ultimately crossed the line in 17th place.
The team and Friese now turn their focus to Round 6 in Seattle, Washington, as the Monster Energy Supercross Championship heads to the Pacific Northwest next weekend.
