AEO Powersports KTM Racing Team rider Avery Long showed strong speed throughout SuperMotocross Playoff #2 in Carson, California, putting together a solid day of qualifying before narrowly missing a transfer to the Main Event.
Long came out of the gate with competitive pace, posting strong times throughout the practice and qualifying sessions. His consistent speed earned him 17th overall in qualifying, putting him in position to battle for a spot through the Wild Card race.
With six riders transferring from the Wild Card, Long knew the race would be an all-out battle from the opening gate. He fought hard throughout the race and finished 7th.
Because Long did not transfer through the Wild Card, he was unable to compete in Moto 1. However, as the first alternate, he was given the opportunity to line up for Moto 2.
Starting mid-pack, Long pushed hard from the opening laps and continued to challenge himself and the track. As he worked to make up ground and push the limits, he ultimately finished 20th in Moto 2.
While the final results were not what Long or the team had hoped for, the weekend provided plenty of positives, particularly the speed demonstrated throughout qualifying and the determination shown in the Wild Card and Moto 2.
The AEO Powersports KTM Racing Team remains committed to putting everything behind its riders, regardless of the circumstances. From the first practice session to the final checkered flag, the team continues to work together and provide the support necessary to compete at the highest level.
AEO Powersports KTM Racing Team will take the lessons from Carson and continue pushing forward as the SuperMotocross season progresses.
