2023 SUPERCROSS – A2 – TPJ Race Report

From TPJ Racing

Angels Stadium in Southern California hosted the first Triple Crown Race of the season.  The Triple Crown format was introduced a few years ago; it features day qualifying and LCQ races, followed by 3 Main Events during the night program.  22 riders advance (compared to 40 on a normal weekend) so the stakes are higher than ever.

This week 47 450SX riders and 51 250SX West riders arrived in Anaheim to try to get one of the coveted spots in this first Triple Crown of the season.  That means that over half from class would have to be eliminated through qualifying; putting together a solid fast lap time was more crucial than ever.

Logan Boye #119 – was happy to have the extra seat time on a Supercross track as he gears up for his run in the 250SX East Coast Championship starting next weekend.  Logan qualified 46th overall during the Triple Crown Event.

Austin Cozadd #512 – is still struggling to put together a fast enough lap time to qualify for the night show but it isn’t for a lack of trying.  Austin has been plagued with minor crashes since the beginning of the year that have him slightly off his game, but he’s ready to make his mark on the season.  Look for big things from him in the coming weeks.

Hunter Cross #702 – missed his first night show, but it wasn’t for a lack of trying.  He had the best qualifying so far this season with a 31st; then struggled in the LCQ and finished his day in 21st.

“A2 the track layout was so fun! Still improving, looking forward to this break to sort some things out and come back swinging at my hometown race in Oakland!”
