Daytona Supercross 2020 marks the last time a “normal” race was held almost a year ago.  Days after the checkered flag waived ending that night of racing, the United States went into lock-down and quarantine due to the novel Coronavirus.  This year, racing might look different, but we are all happy to be back.  After a much needed weekend off last week, the TPJ Racing Team headed to Daytona, Florida once again, this time for the historical 700th Supercross.

(Round 9) Daytona 250SX: The 250SX West Coast Class is stacked to say the least, with over 60+ riders lining up for qualifying each week.  Blaine Silveira was on a mission to make his first night show of the year and his speed during qualifying secured him one of the coveted spots.  The Heat Race did not go as planned, so Blaine was forced to join 20 other riders in the LCQ.  This week, the 250SX Class LCQ had not one, but two Red Flags and 3 starts.  Blaine got tangled up in restart #2 which led to the end of his night.  Overall, he rode well and looked smooth on the bike, he is ready for 3 upcoming rounds in Texas where he will fight to make his way into a Main Event.  TPJ Team riders Mason Wharton, Corbin Hayes and Matt Hubert all rode hard during qualifying but came up just shy of making the Night Show.

Daytona 450SX: “First Supercross ever on a 450 = LCQ Holeshot [check] But on a serious note, very happy with how my night went.  Yes, we wanted to make the main, but it’s about progress.  We improved in the heat, we had a killer start in the LCQ and run up front for a touch.  Once I get more comfortable on the 450 and really flow with it like I do the 250, that main event will come.” said Kevin Moranz in his Instagram post following the Daytona Supercross.  Kevin has been enjoying getting additional racing experience under his belt and hopes to make at least one 450SX Main Event before rejoining the 250SX East Coast Series in Salt Lake City.

The 2021 Supercross Season is over halfway finished, with only 8 races remaining.  The TPJ Racing Team thanks you for your continued support and efforts in helping us making the Professional Journey possible for so much young talent.  See you in Dallas.
