From ISRT Kawasaki
ISRT Kawasaki traveled to the legendary Hangtown Motocross Classic for Round 2 of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship.
The team showed flashes of speed throughout the day, highlighted by a strong overall performance from Norwegian rider Cornelius Tøndel.
Tøndel opened the day with impressive speed in qualifying, posting the 14th-fastest time overall despite suffering an early DNF in the second qualifying session. The Norwegian continued to build momentum in Moto 1, battling throughout the race to secure a solid 16th-place finish.
Unsatisfied with his opening moto performance, Tøndel responded in Moto 2 with his best ride of the young season. Charging into the top ten early, he spent the opening 12 minutes running among the sport’s elite riders and climbed as high as seventh place. As the demanding Hangtown circuit took its toll, Tøndel surrendered a few positions late in the race but still delivered an impressive performance that earned him 14th overall on the day.
While the result marks another step in the right direction, both Tøndel and the team know there is still more potential to unlock as the season progresses.
Veteran Vince Friese arrived at Hangtown still feeling the effects of his heavy crash at Round 1 but showed determination from the moment the gate dropped. Friese improved his qualifying position by eight spots compared to the season opener, putting himself in position for what appeared to be a promising day.
Unfortunately, luck was not on Friese’s side. A DNF in Moto 1 left the veteran with an uphill battle heading into the final moto.
Lining up on the far outside gate pick for Moto 2, Friese faced another difficult challenge. After starting deep in the field around 29th position, he put his head down and charged forward through the lingering pain, ultimately crossing the line in 21st place.
The hard-fought finish secured valuable championship points and salvaged an otherwise challenging day for the veteran rider.
The Hangtown weekend showcased both the progress and determination within the ISRT Kawasaki program. Tøndel continues to trend upward as he gains experience in American motocross competition, while Friese’s grit and perseverance remain a testament to the team’s never-quit mentality.
ISRT Kawasaki now turns its attention to Round 3 of the Pro Motocross Championship, where the team looks to build on the speed and lessons learned at Hangtown.
The team would like to thank its sponsors, partners, crew members, and fans for their continued support throughout the 2026 season.
