The AEO Powersports KTM Racing Team had another strong showing at Unadilla, with both Carson Mumford and Avery Long demonstrating speed, determination, and continued progress as the AMA Pro Motocross season heads into its final rounds.
Carson Mumford once again proved why he is one of the standout riders in the latter part of the series. His consistent top-tier results continue to build momentum, and a podium finish is firmly within reach. With stronger starts, the team believes Carson has everything needed to stand on the podium before the season comes to a close.
Avery Long continued to show consistency, speed, and pure grit throughout the day. Despite early mistakes in both motos, Avery never gave up and continued pushing forward to salvage valuable positions and championship points. The team is encouraged by his riding and speed and will continue working to minimize mistakes as the season progresses.
Qualifying
Carson set the tone early by clocking the fastest lap in Qualifying 2, showcasing impressive speed that looked effortless around the Unadilla circuit. He ultimately finished qualifying 2nd fastest overall, putting himself in a strong position heading into the motos.
Moto 1
Carson didn’t get the start he wanted, crossing the line in 14th and completing Lap 1 in 12th. But he quickly went to work. By Lap 2, he had moved into 7th, and on Lap 4 he laid down his fastest lap of the moto as he turned up the pace.
From there, Carson continued to charge forward, battling his way into podium contention and ultimately securing an impressive 3rd-place finish.
Avery faced an even tougher start, crossing the line in 25th. Rather than letting the setback dictate his race, he maintained steady forward momentum and picked off positions lap after lap. His determination paid off as he gained 10 positions over the course of the moto to finish 15th.
Moto 2
Carson got a much better start in Moto 2 but found himself just outside the top 10. Once again, he put his head down and began working his way through the field. His fast, consistent lap times allowed him to climb all the way into 4th, where he battled throughout the closing laps.
With just six minutes remaining, Carson had closed the gap to third by roughly 10 seconds. He continued to push and actually moved into 3rd on the final lap, but was unable to hold the position through the finish, ultimately crossing the line 4th.
Avery started Moto 2 much stronger, coming through the holeshot line in 11th. Unfortunately, an early Lap 2 crash sent him tumbling back to 35th. Once again, Avery refused to give up. He went to work salvaging as many positions and championship points as possible, riding strong through the remainder of the moto to finish 18th.
Carson’s 3-4 moto finishes earned him 4th overall on the day and continue his climb up the championship standings. He now sits 6th in SMX points and 7th in overall motocross points, further solidifying his position among the series’ top riders.
The AEO Powersports KTM Racing Team leaves Unadilla encouraged by the continued progress of both riders. Carson’s speed and consistency have him knocking on the door of the podium, while Avery continues to demonstrate the determination and pace needed to move forward.
With the final rounds approaching, the team will keep pushing toward the ultimate goal: putting AEO Powersports KTM Racing on the podium.
