AEO Powersports KTM Racing continued its upward momentum in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship with another impressive performance at the Washougal National. Carson Mumford continued to establish himself as one of the premier riders in the 250MX class with a pair of standout rides, Avery Long showcased his growing consistency, and Kyle Wise made his long-awaited return to professional competition after missing the majority of the season due to injury.
Moto 1
Mumford delivered one of the most impressive rides of the day. After crossing the holeshot line in 19th, he immediately went to work, slicing through the field to 11th by the completion of the opening lap. His charge continued throughout the moto as he posted lap times that, around the 10-minute mark, were even faster than the race leader. By lap eight, Mumford had worked his way into fifth position and held strong to the checkered flag, completing an incredible 14-position comeback.
Long and Wise both saw their opening motos compromised after getting caught in a first-turn pile-up. Long emerged from the opening lap in 37th but refused to let the incident define his race. Displaying determination and racecraft, he steadily worked his way through the field to finish 19th. Wise, making his first professional motocross start of the season, focused on gaining valuable laps and rebuilding race rhythm after an extended layoff.
Moto 2
Mumford backed up his impressive first moto with another stellar performance. This time, he put himself in contention from the start, crossing the holeshot line in sixth before quickly moving into fourth during the opening lap. From there, he rode a smart and consistent race, defending his position throughout the moto to secure a fourth-place finish.
Long enjoyed a much stronger start in Moto 2, running 14th on the opening lap before maintaining a steady pace to finish in the same position. His performance marked another weekend of consistent results, highlighting the progress he has made over the second half of the outdoor season.
Wise faced a more difficult second moto. Running 28th early in the race, he continued to battle through the demanding conditions before finishing 34th. While the results may not yet reflect his potential, the team’s primary objective remains rebuilding race fitness, gaining seat time, and preparing for continued improvement over the final rounds of the championship.
Washougal was another positive step forward for AEO Powersports KTM Racing as the team continues to build momentum heading into the final rounds of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship. Mumford backed up last weekend’s breakthrough performance with another pair of front-running motos, proving he has the speed and consistency to battle inside the top five. Long continued to show the steady progression that has defined his recent races, while Wise’s return from injury was an important milestone as he focuses on rebuilding race pace and gaining valuable seat time.
Beyond the riders, the team’s recent success is a reflection of the dedication and sacrifice of the entire AEO Powersports KTM Racing program. From the mechanics to the race staff, countless hours behind the scenes have created a strong team culture built on trust, camaraderie, and hard work.
AEO Powersports KTM Racing now turns its attention to the final rounds of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship, carrying confidence and momentum as the season enters its closing stretch.
